Ecological resort of 28 units on the edge of the Kabili-Sepilok forest, 2 km from Sepilok's orangutan rehabilitation centre.

My Nature Resort occupies 25 acres of rolling terrain in Sepilok, on the edge of the protected Kabili-Sepilok forest. The property, completed in 2016 and owned by S I Tours Sdn Bhd, was designed as a wildlife observation base within minutes of three flagship sanctuaries in northeastern Borneo.

Why choose My Nature Resort

  • Immediate location on the edge of the protected Kabili-Sepilok forest
  • 2 km from the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center
  • Less than 1 km from the Rainforest Discovery Centre
  • Free shuttle to the orangutan centre, timed with feeding sessions
  • Genuine environmental commitment: solar panels powering water heaters, biodegradable toiletries provided
  • Resident naturalist for night walks

The atmosphere of the place

The rolling terrain stretches between the chalets and primary forest. At night, jungle sounds take over; at dawn, hornbills and other local birds wake guests. A 305-metre wooden walkway, accessible from the property, runs alongside the canopy and allows observation of flying squirrels and birdlife without leaving the grounds.

The approach is one of restraint: no luxury positioning, but solid comfort closest to the natural environment.

The rooms

The resort comprises 12 semi-detached wooden chalets, totalling 28 units:

  • 12 rooms with king bed
  • 10 rooms with twin beds
  • 6 family rooms (with additional bedroom in place of a balcony)
  • 4 accessible units for guests with reduced mobility, completed in 2022

Each room has air conditioning, ceiling fan, Astro television, private bathroom with hot shower and hairdryer. With the exception of family rooms, all open onto a balcony facing the jungle.

Dining and services

The restaurant offers a buffet combining international cuisine and Malay dishes, served for all three meals. An outdoor swimming pool rounds out the facilities for returning from excursions. Biodegradable toiletries are provided in each room, consistent with the property's environmental commitment.

Activities and wildlife on site

The 305-metre walkway and immediate surroundings of the resort allow observation of hornbills, flying squirrels and many other forest species, sometimes directly from the balcony. In the evening, a resident naturalist accompanies guests on night forest walks, an opportunity to encounter different wildlife: insects, amphibians, elusive mammals.

The free shuttle to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre departs at 09:00 and 14:00, with returns at 11:00 and 16:00, coordinated with the two daily feeding sessions.

Location

My Nature Resort is located 2 km from the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center, and less than 1 km from the Rainforest Discovery Centre. This position makes it an ideal base for visiting all three sites in one or two days, before heading to the Kinabatangan River or Mount Kinabalu.

In the surrounding area

To extend your nature experience in Borneo, the Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge allows you to cruise the river in search of proboscis monkeys and pygmy elephants. For altitude, the Laban Rata Resthouse serves as a stopover for ascending Mount Kinabalu. To discover other nearby options, see the page dedicated to Sepilok.
